Bad MoBo or Graphics Card
« on: March 21, 2009, 09:58:21 PM »
I'm trying to figure out whats wrong with my comp. I'm on my old comp for now.  But the symptoms with my new one were, whenever I would load DOD different colored  pixels would show up all over the screen and it would freeze up. Then when I went to restart the computer, pixels were missing on the post screen and there were white pixels that ran vertical across the screen, when it gets to the windows logo it shows a blue screen for a split second, not enough time for me to see the error,  then restarts itself. There were times when the post screen show it had a redish tint, then when I would restart, a blueish tint.  Any ideas??

bad video card or monitor

try a dif VC and or monitor and update the drivers to the latest version.

got xp or vista? make sure ur runnin the right drivers on the VC

got a good power supply able to handle all ur hardware? newest VCs demand a minimum of 500w of steady power, even more if u got multiple HDs or SLI cards

if the mobo comes with an onboard VC,disable it from the bios setup.

some DOD:s cheating soft such as aimbot/wallers fuck with ur graphics, try disabling ur hacks  :D

if all that fails set it on fire and buy a new one

If this only appears in games/ 3d applications, your video card is the problem if you tried different drivers.

Well right now I can't get past the windows loading screen cuz it just freezes up or restarts so I can't install anything as of now. I did dust everything out and no luck. Tomorrow, I'll try a different video card and test it.

have you tried entering safemode? when loading the bios, hit F8 several times. then go to safemode

Yeah, so its been awhile and I found out that my graphics card was the problem. I used my friends GeForce 9800GTX and everything ran smooth again.
