Things you will need:
A movie clip
Windows movie maker (can be gotten free off of microsoft.com)
Gimp or some other photo editing program
And smiddy, which I have attached in .rar form
Step 1.
Open up your movie clip in windows movie maker, You will be able to use the frame selection to move through each individual frame. You should save a series of these frames. Once you have done that you need to take those saved pictures and transfer them to your desktop in order (IMPORTANT dont let these pictures get out of order or your spray will look funny)
Step 2.
Open your pictures up in order and resize the to anything to the power of 2
I.E. 64x64, 2x2, 128x128, 256x256 you can even size them with a combo of those numbers I.E. 128x256 and so on.
You will then need to save them as spray001.tga through how many pictures you have in your animated spray.
Step 3.
Find smiddy, extract everything into a folder called smiddy.
Then transfer your .tga files into the smiddy/hls/materialsrc/animated
after you do that you will need to edit this text document it will be in the animated folder.
Spray.txt
"Startframe" "1"
"endframe" "8"
Start frame should have a 1 beside it. Endframe should be the number of the last picture in the spray.
I.E. I used 8 frames in my spray that is why it says 8 by endframe.
After you finish editing make sure you save it.
Step 4.
Now go back into your smiddy file, double click convert.bat
your end result will be in hls/materials/animated
it will be saved as spray.vtf.
Step 5.
You now need to take your spray.vtf and move it to steam/steamapps/youraccount name/day of defeat source/dod/materials/vgui/logos .
Step 6.
Now start the game up and go into settings. Click the multiplayer settings tab.
Find import spray. you will want to look here steam/steamapps/youraccount name/day of defeat source/dod/materials/vgui/logos find spray.vtf and then import it.
Step 7.
Test it out in game, if you hear sound but dont see your spray. you need to go back and make sure that it is under 125kb
