as "artistic"?? as the ending was...i hated how the producers made up so many fucking questions and in the end relied on this POS ending as oppose to answering some fucking questions...such as..why walt was so special...or how did jacob's brother go from man..to Smokey...or What really is the island?! what happened to the  "others" how is desmond a "weapon"? blah blah blah..sure the ending was lovely...but those faux-cocksuckers didn't hold up their side!

I agree with you, but those were 'answered'. We were supposed to believe that in the 10 seconds it took for Man in Black to go in the light, he traveled to the 'cork pool' even though the stream wasn't strong enough in the cave to take him there or take his corpse out... but whatever. The pool had some sort of electromagnetic energy that trapped his soul/spirit and only Desmond could survive it. Mind you, it didn't kill Jack either when he was chilling in it. Desmond was a weapon because he's the only one that could make it to the center of the pool and pull the cork without dying, thus cutting MiB's powers so he could be killed... though how he goes from electromagnetic energy and soul to something that can be shot is pseudo-science bullshit that will never be answered now.

I'm kind of pissed Desmond didn't accidentally become a smoke monster, that would've been sweet.
