It is a turkish mauser, the barrel is not torqued down yet. i just had it on the reciever for the picture.  the original military barrel that was on it was chambered for 8mm mauser (it is also known as 8x57mm, 7.93x57mm) I have rechambered it for 6.5x55mm. i chose a short chambered barrel, meaning the you have to set the headspace in it.  It took me 2 hours to cut the chamber to set the headspace. after i got it set, i cut a little more into the chamber to allow it to headspace when i torque the barrel down. all in all it has been a very fun pain in the ass.

That is awesome.  I figured it was a mauser variant due to the bolt and the magazine.

Cyonotic, people like you are the reason that firearm laws are as tight as they are now.  With a comment like that it would not suprise me if you went and shot a school up.

great job trooper! the gun looks great, some real impressive work.

and also everyone knows gun laws were created so if someone went crazy and got a gun illegally no one could defend themselves against the crazy.

a k98 is chambered for 8mm mauser , its proper designation is 7.93x57mm and is pretty close to the 30-06 in shell size.

Anyhow, I got the barrel torqued, here are some pictures.

You have a skill, thats for damn sure. Looks great!   ;D

I know that this is kind of a personal question. But have you considered opening a gun shop of some sort repair/restoration/selling ammo. Annything like that would be right up your alley. Unless you just do strictly it as a hobby....

See, this 2nd video, the guy is much more prepared for the shot, the stock is lower on his shoulder and he's leaning a bit into, that first guy is a retard.

Im thinking that as soon as you can't hold the bullet in your palm it counts as a connon, no longer a rifle.  ;)

Post by: trooper is j on November 15, 2009, 12:04:04 PM
Well I test fired the rifle on saturday, it shot exceptionally well at 50 yards and no sights of D-MANS statement about cannons.   A cannon is any caliber bigger than 12.7mm.  To make it easier to understand.  Anything bigger than .50bmg is considered cannon caliber.

If you need caliber that big, there's something wrong.

Competition shooting, real easy to get good groupings at 1k yards.  You can do all kinds of shit with that.  I personally wouldnt use a .50bmg to kill a rhino or an elephant,  because it would just tear the thing to shreds.
