yeah, if i didnt love ATi so much id say two GTX 460's is the best deal out there. they dont get hot enough to burn your house down and deliver great preformance.
but if you had $700 laying around i would strongly suggest the 5970, as its literally 2 5870 GPU's in one card.  but when buying that card, unless you have a phenom II x6BE or i7 980 your CPU will bottleneck it.

I'll take 2, and a computer case that houses 2 Power supplies, 1 for the 2 GPU's, 1 for everything else.
