I don't recommend getting two APC units.
APC does not recommend it and if your system gets surged they won't cover you because of it.
One should be fine.
-
read banem, it's 1 unit, that has 2 more batteries hooked up to it to provide more power, 1 control unit for the batteries. it's an option for the sua1000xl. look it up on apc.com

Oh, cool. This is mine. It has done me well. It was hard to find one that would support my PSU at circuit city. at the time it was still around.

gave me a great deal to.

Onboard sound is Just as good as a sound card now a days. save some money, lose the sound card.

I have the XS1300, pretty much the same as that, just a little less powerful. Also from the circuit city closing, got it for 60, and a smaller one for my wife's computer around 40.

Read board description dumb ass. It's a server board, no on board sound.

pixie, it can be said both ways.
but trooper, thats if you dont care about sound, I hear a huge difference between them.
-
right, but he's suggesting i shouldn't buy a sound card, when in this case if i don't, there won't be any sound. that would be a problem.

nice stuff pixie but i would have gone with a Radeon 5870 rather than the gtx 285 IMO. The system im gonna build for March is:
case: AZZA Solano 1000 Black
hdd: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 7200rpm
gpu: XFX radeon 5870 or gtx equiv if nvidia releases new fermi before march
psu: corsair 850w TX
ram: not sure if to get Kingston HyperX 6GB ddr3 2000
or Corsair Dominator equiv but 1600 mhz
cpu: Intel i7 920 (gonna overclock to 3.4)
cooler: Cooler Master v8
motherboard: ASUS P6T LGA 1366 or deluxe (not sure yet)
keyboard: logitech g15
can anyone recommend a good dvd drive? I always went with Samsung or Sony in the past.
oh and ofcourse i want pixies monitor, you bought one for me too right sweetie?
-
if you're making an i7 system, maybe go for a bluray? also, i would suggest using 2 hard drives. 1 hard drive for the system and your programs. another for your files ( movies, pictures, other data not programs) If windows crashes and you have to reformat, you won't lose your data, you can always reinstall programs, and download the updates, but you can't reshoot pictures.
oh and for everyones benefit, I DIDN'T BUY THAT SET UP, I JUST THINK IT'S PROBABLY THE BEST STANDARD SIZED COMPUTER YOU COULD MAKE. honestly it would be hard to make a better computer and still have it be in a standard sized ATX case.
-
yea pixie i got a TB external unit for my backup (western Digital) and a 500gb Seagate drive for music. I wouldnt go with blu ray cause i already got a ps3 and the projector. Dont really care about 1080p on a computer monitor thats less than 50inches. I hardly watch movies on my computer.
-
I think blu ray is a waste. Not much need for it.

I think you're waste......
and it's not like I need this computer build, but it would be awesome, why not have a blu ray? it has 8 processing cores
-
It is way over priced, yeah, it has a much better picture compared to dvd, but price just isnt worth it.
-
i got most of my blu ray movies on sale but some movies are worth it , Planet Earth being one of them

I will have to agree with Tasty on this one, some things you just need to watch in H.D.
-
I have an HD DVD rip of planet earth, looks great in HD.

why do i want an oversized flash drive? booooooo
and don't lie to yourself, the rendering power if this computer would work great for your videos, you'd love it. plus having 5 Western Digital Velociraptors in raid would be wonderful and you know it.

well, i can't afford this set up unless i magically win the lottery or something, but it's a dream computer, and you need something to dream for. let me tell you, this is a dream computer. It's got server power, yet fits in a standard sized case. 8 cores would make you a killer movie rendering computer, or my wife a killer computer for editing photos at the blink of an eye. don't forget a BFG GTX 295 and you're set.
-
BFG GTX 295? boooo more like a XFX Radeon 5970!
