No that is a saiga semi auto rifle, based on the ak47.
His is probably chambered for .308 or 30-06

Am I wrong?

That is a Saiga but it is the 12 gauge. Really fun, they do also have a full auto version but it's not legal. And you may have seen better clips, but that me in the clip.

It doesnt matter if you seen better clips, that is just watching them on a screen, now when you actually get to shoot one, then you have some bragging rights.

The Saiga-12 is a Kalashnikov-pattern 12 gauge combat shotgun available in a wide range of configurations. Like the Kalashnikov rifle variants, it is a rotating bolt, gas-operated gun that feeds from a box magazine. All Saiga-12 configurations are recognizable as Kalashnikov-pattern guns by the large lever-safety on the right side of the receiver, the optic mounting rail on the left side of the receiver and the large top-mounted dust cover held in place by the rear of the recoil spring assembly.

The relative inaccuracy of Kalashnikov type guns is not an important shortcoming in a shotgun, a weapon rarely used beyond 50 yards. However, the looser clearances result in high reliability--an enormous boon on a semi-automatic shotgun, as this class of weapon had previously tended towards unreliability. The gun is also readily affordable and easy to maintain, made almost entirely from sheet-metal stampings.

The Saiga-12 is manufactured by the arms division of Izhmash, in Russia. It was previously imported into the US by European American Armories, although their agreement expired in 2005 and Izhmash is now exporting through the Russian-American Armory Company.

And i am very jealous puppy.  That rocks.  get a longer video of you unloading it on something and a vid of the damage (Old cars preferrably, I love the look of a 12 gauge against a car. I destroyed a car last November)

How about posting a link to the original manufacturer?

Imagine that, their only Saiga's are SHOTGUNS.  ::)

Any place can make a weapon using the same schematics and modify it for something else, and for a small licensing fee call it a "Saiga" because it uses the same general structure ;)

The original saiga's. The only TRUE saiga's, were shottys only

Huh.... I didn't know "7.62x39, .223, .308, 5.6x39, and 9x53R where shotgun rounds.  Guess we all learned something today didn't we.

Retard.  You are like a bible toker that quotes half verses and claims truth.  Read the rest of the "Original" manufacturer's site and they also make saiga rifles.

Banem, if you are going to put a scope on that thing. you should consider picking up another upper for it that is flat top with no front sights.  Something like this would probably do good for you.   http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/default.aspx?productNumber=224299 (http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/default.aspx?productNumber=224299)
tasty,   I killed 2 deer last season.

yeah that upper is cool...or he could just mount his current barrel ona a flat top upper receiver..they'r like $120

and tasty..i stomped a couple cockroaches a fews years ago..that counts?

Yeah, he could do that and spend more for tools to swap the barrel, plus he would need to get a new gas block and install that.  or get a riser to put on the flat top.   If he isnt into gunsmithing and is only going to be doing one barrel, he is better off to just buy a complete upper reciever in the long run.

Is that one of those generic scopes you buy at walmart? Or did you spring for something nice like a leupold?
Title: Re: My new favorite toy
Post by: Ban Em All on April 08, 2011, 03:22:43 PM
That was actually a consideration. But this was just the cheaper way to go and plus I still enjoy using iron sights still.

and tasty, fuck walmart. it is a leupold. didn't cheap out on the scope. haha
